Bio:Trent Dilfer was born on March 13, 1972 in Santa Cruz, California. He played college football at Fresno State, leading the Bulldogs to three straight conference titles, starting in two bowl games, and winning the WAC Player of the Year award as a junior. Dilfer was a very accurate quarterback, leading the nation in efficiency as a junior and setting an NCAA record with 271 straight pass attempts without an interception (the record was broken in 2007 by Andre’ Woodson). Dilfer decided to skip his senior year at Fresno State and enter the 1994 NFL Draft.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted Dilfer with the sixth overall pick of the 1994 draft. He played sparingly his rookie season but was named the starter in 1995. Dilfer struggled during his first season leading the Buccaneers, throwing only four touchdowns compared to 18 interceptions. He showed signs of improvement in 1996 and was named to his only Pro Bowl in 1997. He was released by Tampa Bay prior to the 2000 season and signed with the Baltimore Ravens.
Dilfer spent one season with Baltimore and helped lead the Ravens to a Super Bowl title. Since then, Dilfer has spent time with the Seattle Seahawks, Cleveland Browns, and San Francisco 49ers. Throughout the last six years of his career Dilfer has been relegated to mainly a backup, but he still holds respect as a very capable backup. Through the 2005 season, he has career totals of 19,352 passing yards and 106 touchdowns.
