Tom Brady was born on August 3, 1977, in San Mateo, California. After attending Junipero Serra High School and being drafted by the Montreal Expos of the MLB to play baseball, Brady decided instead to stick with football and attend the University of Michigan to play quarterback. He had a frustrating beginning to his Michigan career, fighting for playing time low on the depth chart. Brady’s time finally came in 1998 and he started for the next two seasons. He made the most of those two seasons by leading the Wolverines to bowl games both years, including an overtime Orange Bowl victory against Alabama in 1999.

Brady was selected by the New England Patriots with the 199th overall selection of the 2000 NFL Draft. It is now considered one of the greatest “steals” in NFL Draft history, for Brady has emerged as one of the best quarterbacks in the league. His shot came in 2001 when then starting quarterback Drew Bledsoe was injured; Brady took the reigns and has not looked back. In his six years as a starter, Brady has accomplished more than some great quarterbacks did in their entire careers. Through 2006 he has won three Super Bowl titles, been named Super Bowl MVP twice, played in three Pro Bowls, and was named Sports Illustrated’s “Sportsman of the Year” in 2005. Statistically speaking he has thrown for over 3,500 yards every year except one, and thrown for over 20 touchdowns every year except one. Considered by many to already be one of the best playoff quarterbacks ever, he has career playoff totals of 3,217 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns, and he has only lost a total of two playoff games.
