Bio:
Scott Gomez was born on December 23, 1979, in Anchorage, Alaska. Before being drafted into the National Hockey League (NHL) in 1998, Gomez played for the Tri-City Americans of the World Hockey League (WHL). In his last season with the Americans (1998-99), Gomez tallied 108 points, 78 of them on assists. He was then drafted by the New Jersey Devils of the NHL.
Gomez has enjoyed a successful, productive NHL career. He spent the first five years of his career with New Jersey, took a hiatus to play with the Alaska Aces during the strike season of 2004-05, and returned to New Jersey for two more seasons. His one season with the Aces was extremely productive: 86 points, scoring title, and ECHL MVP. During his time with New Jersey, Gomez won the Calder Trophy as the NHL’s best rookie, was named to one All-Star game, and most of all, he helped lead the Devils to win two Stanley Cup titles (1999-00 and 2002-03). His career with New Jersey came to an end following the 2006-07 season when he signed a lucrative contract with the New Jersey Rangers. Through the 2006-07 season, Gomez has career totals of 450 points, 334 assists, 116 goals, and 65 points in the playoffs.
