Bio:Jamal Anderson was born on September 30, 1972, in East Orange, New Jersey. He played college football at the University of Utah before being drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the 1994 NFL Draft; the Falcons picked Anderson with the 201st overall pick in the seventh round. Anderson struggled at first in the NFL, only playing in four games as a rookie and accumulating one negative yard for the season. Even though he appeared in all 16 games the following season, Anderson still had only 203 total yards and one touchdown.
Anderson finally broke out in 1996 with over 1,500 yards total offense: 1,055 rushing yards and 473 receiving yards. After another 1,000 yard rushing year in 1997, Anderson put together a fantastic season in 1998 with 1,846 yards rushing on 410 carries and 14 rushing touchdowns. His 410 carries stood as a single-game NFL record until it was broken by Larry Johnson in 2006. Anderson had one more season of 1,000 yards rushing in 2000 before his career was ended by a torn ACL in 2001. A one-time Pro Bowler, his career totals include 1,329 carries, 5,336 rushing yards, 34 rushing touchdowns, 156 pass receptions, 1,645 receiving yards, and 7 receiving touchdowns.
